Prof. Dr. Rainer Kotz is a specialized orthopedic oncologist with over 50 years of experience. He is working as a medical director of the Wiener Privatklinik and has expertise in the following areas: Hip Endoprosthesis Knee joint Endoprosthesis Bechterew’s Disease Osteoid Osteoma Spine Tumors Osteomyelitis Prof. Dr. Rainer Kotz received his medical education from the University of Vienna. After that, he went to the USA for practice and got his equivalence medical degree in 1970 from the Educational Council of Medical Graduates. Later on, after his return from the USA, he completed specialized training in orthopedics in 1974. Dr. Rainer Kotz completed his research in tumor orthopedics at the University of Vienna in 1974. Prof. Dr. Rainer Kotz worked during his early years in the orthopedics unit at the University of Vienna. In 1974, he was promoted to deputy director in the same tumor orthopedics unit, where he was in charge. He also served in the USA for almost four years, where he received his diploma in pediatric tumor orthopedics. After his return, he practiced in Austria. He visited many countries and served there as a visiting tumor orthopedics specialist for a specified period of time. Currently, Prof. Dr. Rainer Kotz is associated with Wiener Privatklinik and serves as the most senior orthopedics oncology specialist there. He received an honorary award in Romania in 2008 for treating disabled oncological patients. In the same year, Dr. Rainer was awarded the Henry Dunant Medal from the Red Cross. He also received the Medal of Honor from the Ministry of Health in Austria. Dr. Kotz was given the Erwin-Schrodinger Award in 2005. He was also honored as MUVI Patron of the Year in 2007.
